Take Me Home Pet Rescue
Jul. 24, 2018 12:00 p.m.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to talk about Take Me Home Pet Rescue. Trish Clark and myself (Sandy Landers) will address the group. Trish Clark has been in the title insurance business as an escrow officer/manager for over 20 years. Even though she enjoyed her work she was happy to retire in 2016. Among her many interested first and foremost is her 4 grandchildren and animal rescue. Trish has worked in animal rescue for over 6 years. Other interests include working in her yard, traveling and spending time with her husband and great friends. I retired from The Senior Source in March 2017, after a 27 year career as the CFO of the organization. A transplant from Massachusetts, I have been living in Dallas/Richardson for over 30 years. I became familiar with Take Me Home Pet Rescue about 6 years ago. I have 4 dogs and one cat- all rescue. Like Trish, I enjoy rescue and traveling and spending time with wonderful friends. |

Short program followed by food packing service project at ~12:30
Aug. 14, 2018
Our Benevolence Committee chose Kids Against Hunger/Send Hope as one of our 2017-18 charities to support. This will be our second time to package food for these children on the Moskito Coast of Honduras. Tom Brian is also a Rotarian and provides food, dental care and educational support for these children. We will need a minimum of 10 people, preferrably more, for the "assembly line" packaging, which will start about 12:30, after we have lunch together and hear Tom speak about this program. The assembly may only take about 30 minutes, depending on how many people help, so bring a friend to come help!

Her Rotary Experience & "Classification Talk"
Nov. 27, 2018
Plano West is revitalizing our relationship with our sponsored Rotaract Club, and Vivi has been been to our club meetings a couple times and has volunteered for our service projects. I invited her to come talk about her Graphic Design background and to basically share with us her "Classification Talk", of sorts. She will talk about her connections with Rotary in Columbia and the US, and may touch on her Rotary Youth Exchange experience, time permitting. |

Join us December 11th as the members of the Plano West Rotary Club get together with their family and friends to celebrate the holidays. The dinner will be at our usual meeting place, Greek Isles Plano on our usual meeting date but at 6:30 PM. To raise money for our club's Rotary Foundation contribution we will be having a bake sell, so if you would like to participate please bring a food item, cookies, cake, pralines, chocolate covered pecans, etc. We will also have a white elephant gift exchange for the second year in a row. If you would like to participate bring a gift of about $10 to $15 dollars in value. It can be something fun, unusual or as simple as a box of chocolates. Plano West Rotary club members will only need to pay for their drinks and their guest as your meal is covered by your dues. We also ask that you leave a tip for the waitstaff. Please RSVP with a yes or no if you will be bringing a baked goods item or gift item as well as your dinner selection for the evening to help us be better prepared. Happy Holidays |

Microlending
Jan. 08, 2019
Jim is a friend of Glen & Michelle's who also has an interest in service to others. Jim will talk about how it’s possible for us to provide the capital needed by small businesspeople and entrepeneurs in the developing world by making small loans (normally $25). It’s an amazing and easy way to help our neighbors in other countries, and will open your eyes to the actual work situations of people around the world. (They are much different than you’d expect!) Michelle's Note: Jim will likely demonstrate using Kiva.org. Kiva also has different Rotary clubs (optionally) signed up as a group or team. |

Service: Packing 35 lunches for CC homelessness
Jan. 22, 2019
CCHC stands for the Collin County Homeless Coalition. Tuesday, 1/22, LaShon Ross will speak with us about homelessness in Collin County & during the lunch hour we will assemble 35 sandwich lunches for delivery Wednesday, 1/23. Wednesday, 1/23, 1-3 PW volunteers will be serving sandwiches for our community members who are currently experiencing homelessness. The sandwiches will be served at the Assistance Center of Collin County (900 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074) from 2-4:30 PM for those receiving services from partner organization Streetside Showers. The Assistance Center of Collin County brings carefully qualified and prompt short-term assistance to individuals and families in financial crisis to help them regain self-sufficiency. Through discerning programs, guidance and funds, we help stabilize Collin County families’ home economies to fight homelessness, hunger and poverty as well as help protect our entire community from a wave effect of negative impacts. |
