Serve the homeless and become a Plano Overnight Warming Station (POWS) Volunteer!

Attend the POWS Volunteer Training Session.

Why a Warming Station?

  • 558 homeless individuals in Collin County (Jan 2019)
  • 395 temporarily sheltered
    • 163 unsheltered (105 in Plano)
    • 191 identified were children
  • PISD reported 408 students experiencing homelessness

The Collin County Homeless Coalition created POWS to provide emergency shelter for homeless during Dangerous Cold Weather Events. Guest provided with a meal and place to sleep overnight.

Steps for Plano West Rotary POWS Volunteer Certification:

  1. Complete Salvation Army In-Person Training (3-hour)
  2. Complete POWS Background Check ($25 charge required)
  3. Commit to serving those experiencing homelessness.
